Whether it's for a secondary school senior class or for a university
graduation,a yearbook is an excellent way to reflect back of the
school years. It allows students an opportunity to reminisce about the
friends they've made over the last few years, and it gives them an
important chance to say goodbye as they move forward with their
education.
When it comes to creating a yearbook, traditionally students would
create a yearbook committee, where a group would collaborate on
developing the yearbook design, taking photography, laying out all of
the pages, and putting together the yearbook itself. Then the process
would conclude with sending the finished yearbook to a publishing
company that can print off the number of copies needed.
These days, with the advent of the Internet and social networks,a
yearbook can take on much different forms. In an electronic form,it lets
students browse and access the pages in a much different way than
years past. Of course, most schools are yet to explore this great
opportunity, which promises to save the stress and disappointment
associated with "printed" yearbook.
However the good news is that Larrysoft & co has brought this unique
opportunity to the doorstep of our great University. They have built
an electronically installable yearbook, which offers all of the
features of the paper yearbook with all of the advantages of digital
technology.
According to the head of the team, Larry Okeke, "we're inspired by
one goal: protecting your memories. That's why we're dedicated to
developing computer-based solutions for creating customized electronic
yearbooks".
This is another giant stride coming on the heels of a previous success
in building a "UNN GP Calculator" which is still available on google
play.
This electronic yearbook lets schools design yearbooks, giving students
the option of editing their profile and uploading pictures on the
installed application. They can also link their various platforms with
social networking sites such as facebook and twitter and view same
online.
Reacting to this development already, a cross section of students at
both Nsukka and Enugu campus are very much excited and have expressed
gratitude to the team. They pointed out that this will surely enable
old friends and classmates keep in touch and cherish past moments
together.
We say kudos to the team, and goodbye to the era when students
typically have to haggle with traditional publishers for "best prize"
which often turns out disappointly. Goodbye also to the era when one
was going to engage herself with that monotonous flip of paper or the
weight of a badbook in her hands all in the name of reading
a yearbook.
